OpenAI engineer Tibo Sottiaux says GPT-6 Astra was a major competitive advantage while it was not generally available; after a large internal productivity jump, some plans previously aimed for mid next year were pulled forward about six months to ship at DevDay.
OpenAI officially posted GPT-6 Astra with the line βAnything you can do on a computer, Astra can do for you. Fast.β and a demo video. This is the public launch after earlier Preparedness Critical cyber framing, targeting general computer use and agentic work.
Pi Changelog ships v0.85.1: GPT-6 Astra is available via OpenAI API keys and OpenAI Codex subscriptions, and SDK import failures from 0.85.0 accidentally published experimental code are fixed. Experimental/plugin subpaths and server/client commands are now source-only via pi-test.sh; local SDK and stdio RPC API stay unchanged.
OpenAI Codex & ChatGPT lead Tibo says capacity scaled better than expected, so GPT-6 Astra is now rolled out to all Plus and Business users (after Pro / Enterprise / Business Premium and the API). Sam Altman followed up confirming it is out to all Plus and Business users. A key widening of Astra access beyond premium tiers for ChatGPT and Codex subscribers.
