GitHub Universe 2026: Copilot Fusion is generally available, routing and orchestrating models automatically, with Fusion Max scoring 60 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index at about half the cost of Claude Code with Opus 5.5 Max
At GitHub Universe 2026 on Oct 28, GitHub made Copilot Fusion generally available. It merges the multi-model orchestration of the Project HydraFusion research preview with Copilot auto model selection: users pick Copilot Fusion and an effort level (Standard, High or Max) in the model picker, and the system decides which models to use and whether to run a Single, Cascade or Critique workflow. GitHub says Fusion Max scored 60 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index, two points below Claude Code with Opus 5.5 Max, at about half the API cost per task, about half the tokens and about 40% less time. Each underlying model is billed at its standard rate, and paid plans get 30% off through Nov 30.

X discussion: an indie developer compiles an NPU into Qwen3.5-4B weights and runs Karpathy's stories260K, an LLM inside an LLM
A widely discussed experiment on X: on Oct 31 indie developer div (@divagr1925) showed QwenPU, which compiles a 32-bit RISC-V CPU plus a vector unit directly into the weights of Qwen3.5-4B and runs Andrej Karpathy's 260K-parameter stories260K inside the model's own forward passes, matching a reference implementation token for token. None of the added weights are trained; a compiler computes them all. The post drew about 1,540 likes, 163 reposts and 85K views and became an X trending story. It is a personal, self-described work-in-progress project: the checkpoint is 26.7 GB and one story token takes about 16 seconds on an L4. Alibaba Cloud opens a Netherlands region at its first international Apsara Conference, plans agentic AI services, and JetBrains explores Qwen for Junie
On Oct 29, Alibaba Cloud held its first international Apsara Conference in Amsterdam and launched its first public cloud region in the Netherlands, with two data centres, making it the company's fourth region in Europe. It plans to bring agentic AI services to the region, including ACS Agent Sandbox, Agent Security Center, AI Security Guardrails 2.0, Agentic SOC and STAROps, and unveiled a new generation of its Apsara Stack hybrid cloud. On the partner side, JetBrains is working with Alibaba Cloud to explore Qwen models for its Junie coding assistant, in both cloud and local setups.
