Vercel CI enters beta: runs only the Turborepo tasks a change affects, 2-6x faster CI built for coding agents
On Oct 28 Vercel launched Vercel CI in beta on all plans. It reads turbo.json, runs only the tasks affected by a code change, serves unchanged tasks from Remote Cache, and gives each task its own machine on Hive, Vercel's compute layer. Vercel says time from git push to "CI passed" in its own repos is 2-6x faster and that nearly 8 million tasks have run across its repos and the private beta; agents can watch and debug CI through the Vercel CLI and MCP.

The old system was a CPU-hungry Python monolith, the team started with "not a single Rust developer", humans designed and verified the system, Claude wrote the implementation, and shadow traffic compared outputs between the old and new versions. Her ballpark figures are roughly 40-50% less CPU and 10-20% better time to first token. A clip posted by Somi (@somi_ai) drew 1,000+ likes and about 140K views on X and was quoted by swyx and others, with the debate centered on whether "never do the big rewrite" is now outdated advice. Cursor marketplace served a tampered Claude Code 2.1.313 extension with an SSH backdoor, affecting at most 5,000 users
Cursor posted a security notice on X at 07:46 UTC on Oct 30: version 2.1.313 of Anthropic.claude-code in its VS Code extension marketplace was a maliciously modified build, not developed by Anthropic, available from about 2:27am to 1:35pm PT on Oct 29 and affecting at most 5,000 users. The payload collects host details, adds an attacker SSH key, tries to open a reverse SSH tunnel and installs persistence. Cursor pulled the version, shut down and rebuilt the marketplace, rotated keys and had the attacker server taken offline; it asks users to update Claude Code for VS Code to 2.1.314 and follow the check and cleanup steps in its blog post.
